be still.

so i was thinking... i never explained the blog. why don't i do that? i'm not entirely sure what the purpose of this blog is. i think it's a mixture of detailing our adventures (like running into cattle parades) and a place to just think out loud (like this entry)...so allow me to think out loud...

be still and know that i am God. - psalm 46:10

since coming back from the honeymoon we have been in go go go mode. it's kind of silly, really. who knows where the craziness comes from. there's always something to pick up or laundry to fold or groceries to be purchased. and when we're not up and about doing things, it's finally getting around to uploading pictures to facebook. i think it was starting to wear on me so last night i just wanted to be still.

so i took my ipod and my bible and wandered down this street, which is conveniently two minutes from our apartment:

so there i went with the intentions of just sitting and enjoying a few minutes of silence and time to just be still...

when i got there and sat down it started to drizzle. and then it started to rain a little bit harder. so my half an hour that i wanted quickly turned into five minutes and i was a little disappointed, but as i walked back i put on before the throne of God above. and as i was walking letting the rain soak in i was thinking about how God washes us clean of everything. everything just seemed to stop for a second and be at peace. it was lovely.

Before the Throne of God Above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea:
A great High Priest, whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.

My name is graven on his hands,
My name is written on his heart;
I know that while in heaven he stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look, and see him there
Who made an end of all my sin.

Because a sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God, the Just, is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise the One,
Risen Son of God!

Behold him there, the risen Lamb
My perfect, spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I am,
The King of glory and of grace!

One in himself, I cannot die
My soul is purchased by his blood
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Savior and my God
With Christ, my Savior and my God

  2. I like your thoughts. Why can't we just be still more often? One of the great challenges of life, I think.
