The thing is, last week came and saw life take off. Ry started his grad class on the 28th while in the midst of the tax season crunch. And while Ry is busy with 60 hour, six day weeks with each night filled with reading about Business Law, I'm juggling three soccer teams and my job (which is nothing short of crazy right now). Gordon spring soccer is up and running, my 12 year old team kicks off this week and I'm still playing every Thursday night. Not awesome timing, but I think we are learning valuable lessons through all of this.
We are certainly learning to appreciate the moments of time that we get to spend together. But even more, I think we're learning about the promises in God's Word. I'm reading a book called Desiring God by John Piper. I'm not joking when I say that it might be my new favorite book. Everyone should read it. Every sentence I read makes my eyes grow wider at the promises of God and the joy we have in Him. I just read this quote:
I saw more clearly than ever, that the first great and primary business to which I ought to attend every day was, to have my soul happy in the Lord. The first thing to be concerned about was not, how might I serve the Lord, how might I glorify the Lord, but how I might get my soul into a happy state, and how my inner man may be nourished...I saw that the most important thing I had to do was to give myself to the reading of the Word of God and to meditate on it.

I have never found a quote that so accurately portrays where I'm at in life. While we try to tackle all of these tasks ahead of us (which probably seem miniscule to most of you), it has never been more apparent in life that we find our nourishment in Scripture. I literally find myself craving the Word in the middle of the day because it's truths are what we can hold onto through the day as we fight to keep our heads above the water.
So it's time for a break from the pictures until April 19th so that we can make it through the end of tax season with some of our sanity left. Pray for Ry as he ventures down this grad school road, and especially for his endurance as he finishes up this tax season strong and that we may both fix our eyes upon Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
